visual artist & designer, based in london/essex
I create recognisable work through my distinct sculptural and material-led approach to art and design. I'm motivated by details within materials that appear through the manipulation and the process of making art; whether that is through paintings, or sculptural work with metals, resin and clay.
I tend to use metallic tones and high shine to evoke a connection with precious metals. I use materials in an abstract way; shifting their representation from their original state, to enhance their texture. My recent piece titled ‘The Reconstruction of Sculpture’, uses sculptural processes like welding, to produce a 'painting' on metal. When heat is applied to mild steel, it turns blue, and this has been manipulated to create textural and detailed large-scale abstract pieces. This was shortlisted for the 2018 Hix Award and has been on display at Coutts Bank.
Current projects include creating bespoke coffee tables, transforming paintings into usable furniture. I merge the mediums of both sculpture and painting within my art, combining the processes and materials of both, to create an intricate piece of art while seeing how far I can push the boundaries of both.
I also paint pet portraits to order via commission.
